Our utmost favorite designers "Etudes Studio" recently announced the opening of their first Pop Up store in the heart of the Marais for this summer, June 1st to the 30th.
The studio will present their complete Etudes N°2 Spring Summer collection as well as Etudes Books and contemporary photographic editions throughout the month of June. So hurry and get your selves a piece of coolness if not a predictable collectible very soon.
We should mention the artistic take on this Pop Up store. For this occasion, Etudes Studio invited the Terrazzo Project Swiss duo to conceptualize and create the store’s interior in complete adequacy with their own identity which we think they have accomplished profoundly.

We at Qompendium are excited to present to you, dear readership, a very special gift, a result of a collaboration with Hugo Verweij of Cleartones.
There a bazillion of ringtones out there on the market but non so delicately written, so precise, minimal and yet ear piercing as these custom ringtones. You will not miss a phone call.
As a response to the ever growing amount of polyphonic and musical ringtones, Cleartones presents a set of minimalist ringtones and notification tones optimized for the iPhone and Android devices. These simple, monophonic ringtones are designed with a sole purpose: subtle notification.
Like the shoes you wear, a ringtone is part of your outfit. It says something about you. And, like with shoes, you have a choice. You might choose one of the standard ringtones and sound like everyone else. Or choose a custom ringtone. But be aware of the omnidirectional nature of sound: when your favorite Looney Tunes character, your favorite eighties disco anthem or your two-year old kid notifies you of an incoming call, your co-workers, students, or boss will hear it as well. Ringtones should be mood-less, personal, unobtrusive yet functional.
The Qompendium x Cleartones ringtone consists of a clear sound to grab the attention combined with a hidden message - the word QOMPENDIUM in morse code, on a very low volume.
Exclusive and free download here in friendly association with Cleartones. And some very special Qompendium Wallpapers going along with it.

Canon Powershot N

Equilibrium is a state of balance between opposing forces, influences or effects. My work in creating landscape paintings involves the art of balancing compositional elements of water to sky, sky to earth, shadow to light, and original to reflection. As a painter I seek to strike a balance between the tactility of paint on the surface of the canvas and the illusion of depth and distance. As a member of a complex technological society I struggle to balance work and play, the conflicting economic forces of art and business, and the range of emotions in personal relationships. The contemplation of pure nature and the activity of artistic expression help me to find and keep my balance.
— Christopher Evans 2013

"Familiar is a half-dreamt paper devoted to visual storytelling. Familiar is this site. Familiar is what we make while we're alone, together. Our staff is split between strongholds in Portland and Brooklyn, but we're unified in our purpose. We explore the world without leaving our desks, then we document our discoveries. Sure, we're a sweaty cult of creative professionals, but we don't drink the Kool-Aid."
We cherish their clean and simple asthetics.

VideoLunette: The Cup |

Maybe a tabu theme or maybe categorized as boring? Maybe it is only for women? If we can go to cloth diapers for babies we can also rethink menstrual cycles and tampons. In average a woman uses up to 17.000 pads or tampons during her lifetime. The resulting waste amounts to a global annual of 45 billion feminine hygiene products and it creates not only an ecological but also a health problem: bacteria, imbalance of vaginal flora and bad odor to name a few. The first reaction to the word „menstrual cup“ is usually something between disbelief and repulse. But it shouldn't be. This little invention dates back to the 1930s. Now it makes a big come back by the Finns. Lunette is biodegradable, healthy and sin free. More information on www.lunette.com |

A web search on Adam Schreiber is a visual journey of its own; he does not reveal much about himself but enough to stay on his website for long. This young and very talented artist has exhibited cross country in the United States. Currently Adam Schreiber is working on a new project in Chicago at the Social Services Administration Library. Once again he is following his passion for warehouses, collections and archives.
Here is a recent interview with Cathy Byrd of Fresh Art International with Adam Schreiber.

Juan Chao, Suzie Zak, Jess Castillo and guests has created a rather intriguing art magazine we already love even without have seen the content. Judged by the cover it is a must have.

One thing is more than clear that we as a publishing company must deliver quality above all and when it comes to images and production high resolution quality is the killing argument. When we are on the run from cities to cities, from events to parties and from one interesting site to another we always wanted a small pocket, super zoom camera with a big sensor of its very kind. And here it is, a Canon 1000 Ixus HS - the love of our team, which we are also giving away. But first check out our little summary on Canon and the logo development of the company, which we find very interesting.

Self-proclaimed metal craftsman David Taylor has always created mesmerizing pieces of work which of we will never get tired of. The designer also has great names for his conceptual pieces too. We especially adore Crowd 2013-13.

Natural, monochromatic abstraction is how one could describe this young artist's work. At times loud maybe slightly psychedelic, yet we wish paradise would be like his photographies. We might then convert to Christianity.
David Benjamin Sherry: "I think anyone who finds pleasure in the natural world would enjoy seeing these ancient rocks and mountains in surreal colors. I would assume that they would be thrilled that I was inspired by nature; I wouldn’t expect judgment from a nature purist."
