Qompendium is giving away two beautiful MICHALSKY Prag Bow Ties in black and creme to unleash the dandy in you. Both bow ties are hand-sewn with the finest silk material at the Edsor Kronen Manufaktur. A menswear all-time classic but we believe that if you pursuit a Janelle Monáe look it is would work for girls too.
Michael Michalsky was born in Göttingen in 1967 and grew up near Hamburg. Young boy Michalsky got fascinated by an article on Karl Lagerfeld at an early age of 12. He made up his mind back then, that it is the fashion world that he would want to conquer. Later after school, he left to study at the London College of Fashion and at the same time he worked as a doorman on the side and became part of the dazzling London club scene. Evidently, Michael Michalsky’s biggest inspiration has always been music, art and photography. Back in Germany, Michalsky first took up a position as Design Manager at Levis, and soon became Chief Designer for the label. In 1995, Michalsky was approached by adidas and emerged within a very short period of time to its international Creative Director. For his work at adidas, Michalsky was the first fashion designer to win the coveted global Red Dot Award.
In the spring of 2006, Michalsky left adidas to fulfill a long-held dream of founding his own fashion label “Michalsky” with mission statement: “Real Clothes for Real People”. In the meantime, Michael Michalsky has become one of Germany’s most influential designers, collaborating with major companies such as Mercedes-Benz, Wella, Ariel, Sony, Seidensticker and others. Michalsky also regularly works with artists from Germany and elsewhere. finding that collaborative projects enrich and influence his collections. Within his Michalsky DesignLab the designer also creates and consults other brands. We are all looking forward to his latest collection “Urban Nomads ” , which will be presented in January 2011 in Berlin, where the designer lives and works.
