Qompendium is an evolving and ever-changing platform for philosophy, art, culture and science, represented by a series of print publications: magazines, books and monographs. Furthermore, it is enriched by a gallery concept, a work shop and a fast-moving online portal.
Anneloes van Gaalen's fifth book in the Ridiculous Design Rules series by BIS Publishers is about rules in typography - a special joy for graphic designers and those interested in working with copy.
But rules urge to be broken and designers take great delight in doing so. The book is collection of 51 rules commented, designed and illustrated by different designers with quotations by well-known typographers with their opinions about that certain rule, either confirming or disapproving of the idea. The book itself is well produced and definitely a fun project but the overall book design could have been better and more contemporary.
