Qompendium is an evolving and ever-changing platform for philosophy, art, culture and science, represented by a series of print publications: magazines, books and monographs. Furthermore, it is enriched by a gallery concept, a work shop and a fast-moving online portal.
Zander Blom was born in 1982 in Pretoria and lives and works in Johannesburg. His first major body of work, The Drain of Progress, showed in Johannesburg (2007), Cape Town (2008) and London (2009). The Travels of Bad followed, showing in Johannesburg and Cape Town in 2009. Both were published as limited edition artist's books. Group shows include Ampersand at Daimler Contemporary, Berlin (2010); Black, Blank Projects (2009); Why Not?, Kuckei + Kuckei, Berlin (2009); Disguise: The art of attracting and deflecting attention, Michael Stevenson, Cape Town (2008); and .ZA: Young art from South Africa, Palazzo Delle Papesse, Siena, Italy (2008). Blom was included in the Younger than Jesus artists' directory published by the New Museum, New York (2009). He was awarded a Red Bull House of Art residency in São Paulo in 2009.
