Travelling all the way from the land down under, we bring you the ever classical knitwear label Coogi. Founded in 1969 by Jacky Teranto as Cuggi in Melbourne, Australia, it was renamed in 1987 to Coogi to give it more of an Aussie flair. Featured in a motley of tumultuous hues, the sweater enjoyed it’s first flourish when it became a wardrobe regular on super dad Heathcliff Huxtable from the Bill Cosby Show.
The Notorious B.I.G aka Christopher Wallace aka Big Poppa aka Biggie Smalls also waxed lyrical, literally, on this fine piece of worsted goodness. Although inveterately faithful to Gianni Versace, iced-out Jesus pendants and gilt Rolex watches, legend has it that Biggie Smalls first fell in love with Coogi when he spotted an Uptown kid named Walt G sporting the label at a club. Nowadays the knits are worn by the likes of Ice T, Jay Z, Russell Simmons, Soulja Boy, Jadakiss and T-Pain.
