Princely-Prince of All Men

"This collection is a celebration of their success, more then it is mine."

Nadine Peters is a London-based menswear fashion designer and Ravensbourne University graduate. Nadine's debut collection titled "Princely-Prince Of All Men" is about style and flair, drawing inspiration from the 70ies style of Jamaican classic films such as "Rockers" and combining the elegance of her grandfather "Joseph Princely Peters" individual manner.

Nadine's grandfather being a tailor and her grandmother being a seamstress, as well as her aunt having studied womenswear at London College of Fashion, Nadine naturally felt to base her graduate collection photoshoot within her grandparent's house, a very key part to her collection as well as her childhood.

She entitled the collection "Princely-Prince Of All Men". Princely being her grandfather's middle name a very important figure in her life, hence "Princely-Prince Of All Men", for her this collection was about paying homage to her family's talent within the creative arts. "This collection is a celebration of their success, more then it is mine."

Nadine teamed up with photographer Jeff Boudreau, together they were able to create a very fresh, inspiring and strong editorial shoot. "Jeff completely captured the essence of my collection", says Nadine Peters.

The design aesthetic, in which Nadine took to this collection, was based on her cultural background. She is not a Jamaican dissent, however most of the collection characteristics was inspired from the Jamaican film 'Rockers'. With Nadine's background in Grenada (roots) vs Jamaican inspired roots she was able to create a very interesting balance of different Caribbean style and flair – two key words to her collection, which came through, to individual pieces of garments.

Other forms of inspiration and references that Nadine had, came from New York based artist Jean Michel Basquiat and Jazz player Miles Davis, for their in-depth, energetic and complex format, to their work.
