Qompendium is an evolving and ever-changing platform for philosophy, art, culture and science, represented by a series of print publications: magazines, books and monographs. Furthermore, it is enriched by a gallery concept, a work shop and a fast-moving online portal.
Initially commissioned by the ICA for a fundraising auction sponsored by Veuve Clicquot champagne, the RGB vases started an interpretation of the Veuve Clicquot yellow-orange identity color.
Oscar Diaz is a product designer based in London where he works with ideas applied to objects, furniture and spaces.
The RGB vases combine the excellence of a process like glass blowing, refined through more than two thousand years, with references to the contemporary culture, were screens are extremely common, and its colors, based on the RGB color system. The vase works as a three dimensional pixel were the RGB colors overlap to create a specific color which appears only once the vases are nested. Each vase is made using the values of red, green and blue that make up the specific purple color (P242). When the three vases are nested, the light passes through, and mixes the three colors so that the purple becomes evident. A computer is used to calculate the exact amount of pigment that each vase must have in order to achieve the desired color. The RGB vases will be exhibited as part of " Eyes on Spanish Design" an exhibition about emerging Spanish designers organised by the ICEX together with the DDI which will take place at 100% Design during the London Design Festival next September.
