It all began many years ago with an innocent interest in the way people like to anthropomorphize. Animals, objects, just about anything can be given human characteristics. Following his curiosity, John Baldessari was soon enough making his own pictures of objects with barely perceptible human features. Maybe they would be detected, maybe they wouldn’t.

When asked to organize an exhibition on a theme of his choice, Charles Ray chose that of moral and amoral space, coming from Alberto Giacometti's description of one of his own works.
This volume reproduces Giacometti's Standing Woman (1948), an untitled box piece by Donald Judd, an ancient Greek kouros (615-590 B.C.), a sculpted piece of island marble from Attica, Mark di Suvero's Hankchampion (1960), Jeff Wall's A ventriloquist at a birthday party in October 1947 (1990), and a series of sculptures by the American folk artist Edgar Tolson entitled The Fall of Man (1969).

Dalí Dalí featuring Francesco Vezzoli is on view at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm through January 17, 2010.
The exhibition experiments with the exhibition format itself by incorporating a contemporary artist, Italian Francesco Vezzoli (b. 1971), with the aim of highlighting Dalí’s oeuvre in a contemporary context, and understanding Vezzoli from a historical perspective.
Both artists have focused on the media phenomena of their respective times. The exhibition works range from traditional paintings, drawings and objects to film trailers, advertising posters and jewellery.
Moderna Museet, Stockholm
19 September 2009 – 17 January 2010
