Meet: Simon John Thompson

French artist and printmaker Simon John Thompson gives us a glimpse into his disturbingly beautiful world with works full of surreal imagery and an uncompromising color palette.

The rizograph and screen prints that we're invited to digest burst at the seams with a vibrance similar to that of Eastern pop art printwork of the 1960's (such as that of Tadanori Yokoo). The environments, strewn about with monsters, vintage cartoons, nude women and iconic imagery from pop culture, transport us to a place somewhere between our world and the subconscious. Thompson deftly combines his techincal prowess with a lighthearted and provocative subject matter.
