"I remember the days of Bread and Butter back in Cologne. Card boxes scattered around every where; young designers promoting wholeheartedly their creations alongside professional big brands. I remember the Nike stand: dusty, with some old furnitures and some flashy colored sneakers hanging from the ceilings and ah, I remember Jop von Bennekom, back then he started his little gay pulp fiction and today he is the Fantastic Man to know. And yes he was there too, sipping water from a bottle and waiting for the Nike press contact to show up. And it was the year 1999. Bread & Butter my only reason to go to Cologne.

Today, I am happy to experience this mighty and turbulent fair coming back with its giant steps to Berlin. I, too, believe that the Bread and Butter is not only a must for every retailer in the contemporary urban wear segment but also the main accelerator for the city of Berlin. And we should cherish this altogether.

Bread & Butter
The Bread & Butter – tradeshow for selected brands finished last Friday could again present a brilliant result. Professional visitors form over 100 countries used the Bread & Butter for comprehensive information and as a kick-off for the new order round. Altogether, a considerably greater number of professional visitors found their way to Berlin, the internationality could once again be increased.

The brand portfolio in the eight areas, consisting of 600 brands, labels and designers, as well as the staging of the historical airport set new standards and were unique in the contemporary textile tradeshow landscape. The event’s organisation and service left little to be desired.

The Bread & Butter that celebrated its winter premiere from 20th to 22nd January 2010 in the historical airport Berlin-Tempelhof started, as tradition prescribes, on the eve of the first tradeshow day with “The Original Opening Party” in the Original Sin Salon.

Bread & Butter Summer Season
At the press conference on the second day of the tradeshow, the new campaign “BREAD & BUTTER – PREMIER LEAGUE” was presented. Karl-Heinz Mueller: “The thought behind the campaign is obvious. First of all, only the best of their trade can participate at BREAD & BUTTER, and secondly, the football World Cup will take place in South Africa concurrently with the fair.
